Today John and I walked down to the local supermarket - Randalls - to get some milk. It is about 15 mins walk. We really enjoyed wandering round checking out all the different products available, and also the different sizes of things - mostly bigger!!!
We bought a few extra bits and pieces and walked home again. By the time we had cooked breakfast it was 12.30 so we called it lunch.
Tonight Grampy cooked steak and patties on the bbq for dinner, then after a game of Scattergories, everyone went home. Now I am updating this, John and his dad are checking out some DVDs, Tim is taking photos with his new camera and Hannah has just come up to find a chocolate bar - all is well with the world. Now I have to check out what Meg is doing and see if I can convince her to sit down.
Oh yes, there are lots of squirrels here, we can sit at the breakfast table and watch them scampering up and down the trees outside.

Hi de hi from camping... Laura and I have come home to look for the missing bits of the tent..... and restock/shower/wash. We have Darren camping with us at the moment. We are in the same spot as last year stretched out where your gazebo was. It's a very quiet compound compared with previous years.... (have got 4 people missing). Could be quite stressful with only ourselves for company but we each take to our corners with a book or puzzle etc. Mark has come home for a few days of peace and quiet and music. It's beautiful weather, the birds are hippity hopping around at the equivalent rate of ....say... Texan squirrels. Not a possum in sight or sound - but, amusingly, no less than 5 ex-Rm 12ers have been sighted on-site. Aaaah, not my responsibility any more... The pohutukawas are just past their best but still plenty of red flowers everywhere. Have read one book, had the obligatory G & T (no ice - see! you ARE missed - I would have come to your tent for the ice/lemons under usual circumstances) and had the first footsoak. Tim arrives from Palmerston North tomorrow night and the Rotorua rellies arrive later in the week. Haven't even got the water-proofing tarps up yet as the only rain has been a poetically gentle droppeth sans wind. There's been a few earthquakes further down the line but, so far, it's all quite paradisical - apart from a few hungry mozzies and the ever-present ants in Donald Duckesque proportions .
Cheers, Hi to all.
You are indeed missed at Awhitu - a warm G&T is not the easiest of drinks to get down. Gorgeously sunny here, have read about four books already! Bliss! Glad you are having a good time, one of my favourite things to do in foreign places is check out their supermarkets. Hi to all :)
