The sun king's crib!!

Well, and we thought we were well off with our gadgets and everything available to us thesedays!
Man, the good people of Versailles really knew how to decorate. Nothing exceeds like excess aye John!!
We went to Versailles on a cold wet day so didn't do the gardens apart from viewing them from the inside.
The hall of mirrors is something to see - again, and again, the most lavish golden *lost for words*
Really, by the time you get right through the palace, well the bits you are allowed to get through, you become somewhat numb to the glory of it all. Oh look, another golden statue, gosh yet another 65 square foot painting on the wall - on the ceiling, yawn!!!
Not really, but it is over whelming.
We came back into Paris to do a bit more retail therapy before finding a steak for Hannah for dinner. It was our best (and most expensive, sorry credit card/John) but really yummy and worth it!! I had lamb! I found my way to a travel agent and bought tickets to
Belgium for the next day at 10.55am.
We were going to have an early night after packing but ended up rather late again so we slept in until 9am. We reached the train at 10.52am, argh!! after one unnecessary traispe up some stairs with very heavy, not too manouverable suitcases. If we tried to carry them on our backs Hannah says we would go backwards!
So, here we are in Brussels, fantastic hotel, friendly people and will begin our journey of ancestral discovery tomorrow
Au voir!
Viv and Hannah

Have just been reading through the last couple of posts - I can absolutely sympathise about the enormous Frankfurt airport, it is flipping VAST. Sounds like you are having a fab time, I never got to see the Palace of Versailles but it sounds incredible! Au Revoir XOX

Home from camping - sigh (rhymes with Versailles...) We fitted everything in three cars -just, including packing the cavities in the coffee mugs and hollow table legs. And now, the great unpacking, washing, repacking-and-finding-storage-spaces begins. We now await this time next year when the Rotorua rellies (well, one in particular)are looking forward to beating Hannah in poker and Versability. Loved reading your Paris blogs. Cheers.
